There is some unallocated space on the hard disk of my Windows 7-based computer. Is there some way by which I can merge it with an allocated partition?

Please try these steps to merge the unallocated drive space with the allocated space.

a) Click on Start
b) Right click on My Computer
c) Click on manage
d) Click on Disk Management
e) Now check if the unallocated space and the allocated space are parts of the same hard drive
f) If not, you will not be able to merge them
g) If yes, all you have to do is right click on the allocated space and click on extend
h) On the Window that comes up, it will show the unallocated space and the amount of space that you can merge
i) Follow the on screen instructions to merge these two partition
