If you do not wish to have the icon for the recycle bin on the desktop, then:

a) Right click on the Recycle Bin
b) Click on delete.
c) This will remove the Recycle Bin completely.
d) If you want to get it back, right click on the desktop
e) Click on Personalize
f) On the left menu, click on change desktop icons
g) Select Recycle Bin and click on Ok
