a) Make sure that you close all the programs and files before you try to shut down the computer
b) Try to shut down from safe mode and see if it works. To go to safe mode, try these steps:
• Turn the computer on
• Keep tapping the F8 key when you see the OEM Logo.
• If you get the Windows Advanced Options Menu, select Safe Mode with Networking using the arrow keys on the keyboard.
• Press enter if you are prompted to select the Operating System.
• Login with your name to the Safe Mode
• Try to shut down the computer and see if it works.
c) If we are able to shut down the system from the safe mode, then we will do a clean boot
To do a clean boot, try these steps:
• Click on start
• Click on Run
• Type msconfig and hit enter
• On the System Configuration window, click on the startup tab
• Click on disable all at the bottom right
• Now click on the services tab on the top
• Ensure that you have a check mark in the box “Hide All Microsoft Services”.
• Click on disable all at the bottom right
• Save changes and restart the computer in the normal mode
d) Try to shut down the computer from the normal mode and check if the issue is resolved
