It is important to remember keys when using Bitlocker. When exactly does it ask for a key? You may have used bitlocker sometime earlier and put a key, it must be asking for this particular key. If not, mention what is the exact message you are getting.

I have a Gateway laptop running Vista. It won't boot up. It gets to the black screen with the green progress bar running along the bottom then just continues to run that green bar. It won't start in safe mode either, it loads a bunch of drivers but stops each time after crcdisk.sys. then freezes. I've tried from teh original OS disc and it says it's loading the files, then goes to the black screen with the green progress bar and stays there.

Whenever I start my computer I get two black screens and error “C:\user\appdata\roming\micros~1\windows\startm~1\programs\startup\update.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illigal instruction. CS:0000 IP:0075 OP:fp 00fo 37 05 choose close to terminate the application” on it. Help
