Update your system antivirus software and run a complete system scan and delete any infections found. Perform steps given in the link http://www.askiyogi.com/windows/8778.html as given below and check if it makes any difference. You can use the fixit option as provided in the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165 and see if it helps.
a) Restart the computer in safe mode. In order to go to the safe mode, follow these steps:
• Turn the computer on and keep tapping the F8 key when you see the OEM Logo
• When you get to the Windows Advanced Options Menu, select Safe Mode using the arrow keys on the keyboard
• If you are prompted to select the Operating System, press enter.
• Login using your username and password
• When you are at the desktop, try to check if the issue occurs here as well.
b) If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode, then we will do a clean boot.
• Click on start
• Click on Run
• Type msconfig and hit enter
• On the System Configuration window, click on the startup tab
• Click on disable all at the bottom right
• Now click on the services tab on the top
• Ensure that you have a check mark in the box “Hide All Microsoft Services”.
• Click on disable all at the bottom right
• Save changes and restart the computer in the normal mode
• Check if the issue is resolved
c) If the issue still persists, then try these steps:
• Disable the security software and check if the issue still exists
• Uninstall any unwanted software that you might have using programs and features
• Run a full virus scan of the system from safe mode
• Click start and then click on run. Type sfc /scannow and click on OK
