When I try to update Windows 7 on my computer, error code 8007045D is displayed. The updates keep failing. What should I do to fix this error?

The error code 8007045d = "ERROR_IO_DEVICE - The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." This possibly tells your hard disk is going bad. Run a full chkdsk as follows:

(A) Open "My Computer".
(B) right click drive C:, select "Properties".
(C) Click tab "Tools"
(D) Click "Check now"
(E) Check *both* check-boxes, and click start.
(F) Follow instructions to restart windows.
Before Windows reloads, it will run a full chkdsk, which might take an hour or more. Take note of any significant errors reported. Now once the windows start, try to install updates again.
