The recovery partition is used to restore your computer to factory settings. If u modify or delete these partitions you will not be able to use it to restore your system. If you have windows re-install discs you can still re-install windows again

I have a Gateway laptop running Vista. It won't boot up. It gets to the black screen with the green progress bar running along the bottom then just continues to run that green bar. It won't start in safe mode either, it loads a bunch of drivers but stops each time after crcdisk.sys. then freezes. I've tried from teh original OS disc and it says it's loading the files, then goes to the black screen with the green progress bar and stays there.
