If the CPU usage is too high all the time, please try the following:

(a) Check the task manager process tab and keep a note of all processes.
(b) SVChost is a generic process though it may be a virus as well so run a complete scan of your system with the anti spyware software.
(c) If the scan does not compete, scan in safe mode.
(d) Uninstall any additional programs that you don’t use any more.
(e) Use the msconfig utility and minimize the programs that startup with windows.
(f) Check for any scans running in the background.
(g) Tweak the virtual memory settings.
