You can try to enable it from these steps:

1. Right-click on the taskbar and select “Properties”.
2. In the “Taskbar and Start Menu properties” dialog box, switch to Start Menu tab.
3. Select the option named “Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar” to disable Jump Lists feature.
4. Click on the “Apply” button to save the changes.

I use Windows 7, a few weeks ago while I was using the Internet my window closed and I was informed by Win7 that I had a virus and I had to purchase Win7antispyware to get rid of it, at the time I didn't realise this was a fake program, I downloaded it and nothing changed at all, I then purchased McAfee security which took away all the bad stuff I'd paid for in Win7... but now all of my desktop icons have disappeared and can't even be found on the start menu. My background pic has vanished. I am getting message that my hard drive is failing although MacAfee is saying system is secure.

I have an HP laptop with home premium edition of Windows 7. Tonight when I shut down the system, some updates were installed. There was this message "Please do not power off or unplug your computer." But the updates kept on installing and the computer did not turn off. How can I fix my PC?

I got an HP G60-530US laptop that completely crashed because of viruses. I decided to reinstall windows 7 as I had a disk and a family pack product key. So, I formatted the HD, and started the process.
