I tried to reinstall my Windows Vista and when trying to activate it I get a message saying, “The product key you typed is already in use, to activate Windows you will need another Windows Vista key “. I have used my key before, so do I now have to buy another Windows Vista key every time I need to reinstall?

If you are getting the message that the product key is in use, it does not mean that you have to buy a new one. It means that the activation is facing issues. We can try to activate the Windows over the phone. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Run
3. Type slui.exe and click on OK
4. This will open the Activation Window
5. Close the option Activate over the phone
6. Select your Country.
7. Follow the instructions for phone activation.
8. Once done, restart the computer
