I did a clean install on winxp pro, it ended with an “unexpected error”, it won’t install, shows me the error message and reboot tries to reinstall, and same error. I checked around and it could be due to the intallation disk that was scratched and unable to read files (i tried to image the disk and failed). i did make a copy of the disk earlier, but it was bootable. i tried to put in the copied cd, tried to browse for the file but couldn’t (don’t kn ow the drive and file).

The best way here is to get another copy of the OS from the system manufacturer of if you have a recovery partition, you can use it. Bad media will cause installation issues and you will waste lot of time trying to repeat the procedure.
