You didn’t mention which recorder you are using. Is it windows internal recorder? If windows recorder is not working then try the following steps:

• Click on start – control panel – sounds and audio devices – voice – under voice recording make sure your audio software is selected.
• There is “Test hardware” button click on it to test the mic and the driver.
• Try after that , if problem persists replace the mic.
