Please try the following steps:

(a) Uninstall the office application by using some good uninstalled like Revo Uninstaller.
(b) Use a registry cleaner to remove any office entries.
(c) Make sure the Office copy that you have is genuine and good copy.
(d) Disable antivirus temporarily when installing Office 2007.
(e) If possible try to install in safe mode to avoid any other programs interference.
(f) Check the system requirements of Office installation.

when i try to run my network troubleshooter I get message 'A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from opening', so I clicked error details and managed to get somewhere on windows that told me to run the 'SFC /scannow' function in an elevated CMD prompt.
