P2P softwares can be dangerous depending how you use it and what is the source. Moreover, you may also unwittingly download a virus, spyware, child pornography or facilitate a security breach. There are mislabeled files which can conceal malicious content, so a good idea would be to use anti-virus and anti-spyware software in order to protect your computer.
Strong security software will surely reduce the chances of infection but there are other types f risks as well as mentioned above. So you will have to be careful.
