When I try to play anything on Windows Media Player, I get a message that I need codec. What is this and where can I get one?

A codec encodes a data stream or signal for transmission, storage or encryption, or decodes it for playback or editing. You can download free codecs from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm
