The Windows tool you use to change file associations in located in the Control Panel under the Default Programs icon. Once on the Default Programs screen you have two choices for changing file associations:
1. Set your default programs
2. Associate a file type or protocol with a program, in this option, select the type and then associate Excel with it.
You have to make sure MS Excel is installed in your system. If you don’t have, you can download the viewer from the link http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=4
