I am running Windows XP pro with SP3. After a long battle with malware, trojans etc, Microsoft word disappeared from my computer. It does not show up in the start menu or add/rem programs. I don’t want to download the fake free versions and as it came with the computer, I do not have the office disk. Any ideas?

The word application seems missing from your system. I believe due to the malware cleaning process, the file associations may have become corrupt. Try these:

(a) Click on start>my computer>c:>program files, here look for Microsoft office folder, inside it try to look for the Word application.
(b) Click on start>search>in the search box type winword.exe and search in all locations.
(c) If the word software has completely disappeared from the system then re installation may be the only way. Download the official copy from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/CD001022494.aspx.
