If you are getting this message,please try these steps to resolve the issue:

a) Upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader. You can download it from this link:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/
b) If this does not help, then:
• Open the PDF document
• Click on Document
• Click on Accesibility Setup Assistant
• Click on “Set all accesibility options”
• Click on Next three times
• Click on “Only read the currently visible pages”
• Click Next
• Click on Done
• Re-open the PDF File and check if this helps.
c) Try to rename the accesibility.api file and ReadOutLoud.api from the following location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader8.0\Reader\Plugins

Unable opening pdf files must be document corruption if it's true I should suggest you http://www.pdf.fixtoolbox.com to repair pdf files
