I am using Windows Media Player 12 on my Windows 7-based computer. When I play a media file in Windows Media Player 12, only audio output is there and video is not displayed. But these files run with both audio and video in Windows Media Center. Please help me.

If it is no video on any file, please reset any change in settings you made in WMP12. Make sure you have the codecs installed and working. Do you get any error message? Try to change some settings here at Video > menu drill down to "video acceleration" as follows: Video | Tools | Options | Performance | Video Acceleration. Update the video drivers. Try to boot to safe mode and then try to play some basic files and see what the results are.

When I try to open Microsoft Word or Excel files I get the error message “This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.” I tried changing the default settings but the problem persists. Any help would be appreciated.
