I downloaded a video from Internet. On double clicking it, the file does not play. The error says that a required codec is not there on my computer and asks me to install it or connect to Internet for downloading. What should I do to play the file?

A codec encodes a data stream or signal for transmission, storage or encryption, or decodes it for playback or editing. The file that you have downloaded needs codecs that currently is not supported by the default media player. You will have to install additional codecs. You can download free codecs from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm and then install it.
