I'm going crazy trying to find a simple system for a friend, what with the proliferation of 'categories'(notebook, netbook, tablet, iPad, iPod) these days.
What I'm looking for is very straightforward:
1) High speed, consistent wireless (N) streaming given a pre-existing fiber-to-wireless-router connection and high-speed cable modem.
2) A machine I can set up for him so when he turns it on it will go directly to the web.
3) Quality sound and graphics (web) with a display between 10" and 13" (for portability and price); not concerned about battery life.
4) Fast machine
5) Reasonable price <= $650.
6) 3G/4G ... not sure. He doesn't have a cell phone and I'm not sure if this is a feature that would be used/necessary when visiting family.
I've looked at netbooks, tablets, small laptops and my head is spinning. I used to be a pro but got CNS Lyme disease in 2007 and now my head just can't handle more than 15 minutes of concentration, not to mention that I completely forget everything I've come across 15 minutes after leaving. So I'm asking for your help. If I haven't mentioned it, then it's not important.
