I've been using a USB hub recently. I have only one dependable USB port (apart from where my DSL router plugs in), so I plug into that, and into a less dependable port for additional power. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes the computer can't detect it, and sometimes the computer makes a high-pitched hum when I plug in the hub's power cable to the second USB port.?
