If the battery is not charging as much as it used to, it could be an indication of the degradation of the battery. The battery of a laptop that is used moderately would last for 18 to 24 months. If it has been that long, you might need to replace it.

Use the button on the battery to check if the battery would last for some more time. Pressing the button gives you the charge status (the LED lights indicate about 20% each charge). If alternating lights flash, replace the battery. Pressing and holding it for at least 3 seconds will tell you how much the battery has degraded. If no light appears, the battery is in good condition and if 5 lights appear, you should consider replacing it.

If the battery is fine and you are still facing the issue, you might have to replace the adapter.
