If the laptop’s touchpad does not work even in Safe Mode, there are limited things you can try unless you have an external mouse.
1. If the problem started recently, try performing a System Restore.
a. Tap F8 while the system boots up and select ‘Repair your computer’ when you get to the ‘Advanced boot options’.
b. If the cursor works here, click ‘System Restore’ under ‘System Recovery Options’.
c. Follow the prompts.
2. If even that does not work, arrange for an external mouse and reinstall the ‘Touchpad’ drivers from the laptop manufacturer’s website.
Once that problem is solved, perform a full scan using an anti virus in Safe Mode.
