It depends what kind of software you want to download. There are many safe sites online but mostly that I use is http://download.cnet.com/windows/ this is quite safe and many people use it.

On opening some web pages in Internet Explorer 8, 'Done' is displayed in the bar at the bottom of the browser, but only a part of the page or a blank page is displayed. Sometimes just the background of the webpage comes up in the browser window. These pages are loaded completely in other browsers such as Google Chrome. I can't figure out what's wrong, please help.
