Which are the sites that are not opening? Are these secure sites? What is the error that you get if these sites do not open? Also it’s not very clear from the question what appears different from IE8, is it the font, graphics etc? Try this:

• Click Start
• Type Internet Options
• Press Enter on your keyboard
• Click the Advanced tab
• Check the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering* box
• Click OK
• Open Internet Explorer
Also disable any addons and see if it makes any difference.

How do you get Acer's website Window to stop opening when you start the Internet?I have a new Acer Aspire 2100 (91.AB675.D02) desktop and whenever I open the Internet it opens a separate tab entitled "Home" that leads to the Acer website. (Empowering People) I registered my computer already with this site and Acer emailed me saying "Thank you for registering" but it keeps opening as if I have yet to register and it's getting quite annoying.
