There may be many reasons why the AIM messenger is disconnecting. I do not think that your friend may be hacking your system as this is a remote possibility. I will suggest you some steps here that you can try.

(a) Run a full system scan with the anti spyware and anti virus software and let the scan complete.
(b) Download the latest version of AIM from http://www.aim.com/ First uninstall the older version from the control panel and the restart the system and then install the latest version.
(c) You have not mentioned if your internet connection if fine when you get disconnected from the chat but I guess it is fine. Check the connections settings box of the AIM and see if aany unusual settings is present that needs to be removed
(d) Check you systems firewall for any AIM related blocking.
(e) Try to login to web messenger at http://web-messenger.eu/ and see if you are connected all time. If yes, issue may be with the software itself, not friend.
