I had two external hard drives plugged into my computer, and I was moving large folders from one to the other (from a 500GB hard drive to a 2TB drive). All of a sudden, I lost 40GB from my internal hard drive (which is the same size as the sum total of all of the folders I was moving). I have no viruses on my computer, and I made sure that I was moving everything to the correct location. How can i get it back??

I’m using Vista Home Basic.I’ve been using an external WD hard drive for storage and it’s been fine until today. All of a sudden it has disappeared. At microsoft I used the fix it tool and it says reinstalling the driver might fix – I say yes – Device driver comes up saying installed successfully – but the drive starts working continually until I unplug the usb or turn off. The same thing repeats again.?
