The monitor connected to my Windows 7-based desktop is not working. There is no signal coming on the display. How to troubleshoot this issue??

I was trying to connect an external display to my Windows 7-based laptop, but the system crashed and there was the blue screen error. How can I fix this issue??

On Win XP there is a floating note on monitor that is telling me to set the monitors resolution. I do so in safe mode but the ‘signal” reappears after a bit. I installed a video card but have not yet installed its drivers. The monitor works fine and then appears It seems like when the computer (and.or monitor) warms up the floating sign appears again.video problem or monitor problem or ? I’m afraid I can hear myself as I type that it be the monitor (ugh)?

Some days ago, I had to change the motherboard of my Windows 7-based desktop. Since then the graphics are not displaying properly, the fonts are distorted and text is no clear. What could be wrong with my computer??
