took my HDD out of my old laptop and put it in an enclouser. I’ve pluged it in to a PC and it doesnt recognise it. How do I get to the files on my old HDD? is there a way?

You have not given the details of the HDD, Operating system and where have you connected it, do you get any error message? Try these:

(a) Make suet the enclosure is not faulty.
(b) When you place the HDD inside the enclosure, make sure all the pins are ok.
(c) The power connector cable should be seated properly.
(d) If there is a power LED, make sure it’s lit up and you can hear the disk running.
(e) Try different ports.
(f) Check if mass storage services is running.

On inserting a disc in the drive of my laptop, the error "Cannot locate the DVD-ROM. Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application" is displayed. Earlier the DVD drive was working fine. I can't understand why this problem is occurring.

I had two external hard drives plugged into my computer, and I was moving large folders from one to the other (from a 500GB hard drive to a 2TB drive). All of a sudden, I lost 40GB from my internal hard drive (which is the same size as the sum total of all of the folders I was moving).
