On connecting a headphone to my Windows 7-based laptop, the audio volume is very low. The sound output through the inbuilt speakers is normal. How can this problem be resolved?

Does your headphones have their own volume control? If yes, use them. Also please make sure the Windows volume is at the desired level. Please click on Volume icon in the system tray and click playback devices…then select speaker/headphones and then click properties. Uncheck disable all enhancements if a check mark is present and then try different settings in the box and see if it makes any difference. If you have installed separate audio utility, check all the settings there as well.
