When I give a print command from my computer, I get an error that the printer is offline. The printer is being detected by the system, but it is not responding. Please assist me.

Please check if the printer is marked offline:

1. Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer.
2. Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print jobs will open.
3. Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online.

If the above is ok, make sure there are no other ghost printer installed. Remove all the printer and any old printer software that is installed. You can go through this as well http://printers.iyogi.com/help-support/windows-7-printer-offline.html

I've been using a USB hub recently. I have only one dependable USB port (apart from where my DSL router plugs in), so I plug into that, and into a less dependable port for additional power. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes the computer can't detect it, and sometimes the computer makes a high-pitched hum when I plug in the hub's power cable to the second USB port.
