This has been going on and off. When it did work the other day, the screen went blank then really fuzzy so I had to restart. It seems like a hardrive, video card problem. If thats the case, then doesnt it mean I lose everything?

No it does not mean that you have lost everything from the harddrive.
We have to check it step by step, what is creating the problem.

So we have to analyze the issue first .
