I had two external hard drives plugged into my computer, and I was moving large folders from one to the other (from a 500GB hard drive to a 2TB drive). All of a sudden, I lost 40GB from my internal hard drive (which is the same size as the sum total of all of the folders I was moving). I have no viruses on my computer, and I made sure that I was moving everything to the correct location. How can i get it back?

Try to go to the location from where the data is lost. Press the key Ctrl+Z and see if the data does come back. Check the recycle bin. If all this does not work, try to use a data recovery software.
