When I start my pc It loads Windows like every-thing’s ok, but when the welcome screen should appear it doesn’t send any signal to the screen. The screen says : “No signal detected”.

I think when the system boots to welcome screen, the system either restarts or the video adapter fails and does not send any video signal. For this please try these:

(a) Start the system in safe mode by using the F8 key.
(b) Check if the system boots normally, if yes, uninstall the video drivers.
(c) Visit the systems manufacturer website and download the latest compatible video drivers.
(d) Install the video drivers and restart the system and check.

This has been going on and off. When it did work the other day, the screen went blank then really fuzzy so I had to restart. It seems like a hardrive, video card problem. If thats the case, then doesnt it mean I lose everything?

I'm using Vista Home Basic.I've been using an external WD hard drive for storage and it's been fine until today. All of a sudden it has disappeared. At microsoft I used the fix it tool and it says reinstalling the driver might fix - I say yes - Device driver comes up saying installed successfully - but the drive starts working continually until I unplug the usb or turn off. The same thing repeats again.

While I’m watching movies off of my external hard drive, it randomly freezes and the system stops recognizing the hard drive. It works fine if I pull it out and plug it in again, but only for some time.
