When my files had got corrupted, I had used the software from the link http://www.sysinfotools.com/recovery/dbx-recovery.html and it did a good job.

You may repair dbx file due to next tool http://www.outlookexpress.fixtoolbox.com program supports restoring dbx data of more than 2GB

I ran scanpst for my pst file as outlook wouldn't open, now outlook opens however all my emails i stored in my folders are saying "this item cannot be displayed in the reading pane, open the item to read its contents.
