You have installed properly the new Netgear wireless adapter WNA1000M but you are unable to connect to the wireless network. There are many reasons that may lead to this kind of issue accordingly I am suggesting some steps here:

(a) Make sure the wireless utility is installed and active. You can also use the Windows own network utility.
(b) Check the wireless card properties and see if it is enabled.
(c) Visit the manufacturers website and check if the latest software compatible with your OS is available for download, if yes, download and install it.
(d) Move near to the wireless router/modem.
(e) Check if the installed firewall is blocking any network.
(f) Remove any metallic/magnetic clutter near the wireless adapter
(g) If it is not connecting just to your wireless network but detecting it, make sure you provide the correct wireless key, encryption type etc.
(h) Check if your router has MAC ID restrictions applied.
(i) Try to change the wireless channel and see if it helps.
