You Dial-up connection refreshes periodically and due to this you are unable to download any big file. To take care of this, I would suggest you the following steps:

(a) Check your connections settings in the computer as well as the modem to change this setting. In case this setting is at the ISP end, you can call the ISP support to see if this setting can be changed as per your convenience.
(b) To download large files, I would advise you to use Download managers. These days we have inbuilt download managers in the browsers. If you use the download manager to download files, even if the connection resets/refreshes the download will resume from the point where it left hence this will save lot of your time and effort and any big files can be downloaded in multiple sessions.
