If the wireless connection disconnects frequently, I understand your agony as you said rightly, you have to download files again and again. There may be many issues like interference, malware, settings etc that can lead to such situations so please try these steps:

(a) Make sure that WiFi signal strength is strong and you are in the wireless range.
(b) Place the router in central location where there is least interferences like metal, magnets, walls etc so that the range increases.
(c) If you have another device in house that uses 2.4GHz range and is used frequently, this can be one reason for frequent disconnection, try changing the channel.
(d) Update your computers wireless card driver to the latest.
(e) Update the router firmware is available from the manufacturers website.
(f) Scan your system with the latest updated security software.
(g) Check firewall settings for any network related blockage.
(h) Run a Windows update
(i) Delete any redundant wireless profiles created.
