As you have mentioned that you are a part of the network and you are unable to surf the internet, I guess this may be due to some configuration issues, Please try the following steps:
(a) Check your systems firewall if it is blocking some incoming connections.
(b) Click on your network in system tray and check if your system is getting a valid IP address as others systems may have in your network.
(c) Go to the device manager and check if the network card is installed properly. Alternatively if you are using a wired connection, check at the port where the cable connects if green/orange light is lit up or is blinking.
(d) If you have another browser, try to go online through other browser.
(e) Check your system for malware, scan it with updated security software.
